The Geology Department at USU Eastern focuses on research and education on Planet Earth. This includes a diversity of topics dealing with the evolution of the atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, and hydrosphere. Students interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree in geology can begin their studies at USU Eastern. The geology program offers the student the opportunity to earn an Associate Degree and fulfill prerequisite and elective courses.
The Geology Department at USU Eastern works in conjunction with the Geology Department at Utah State University and regularly offers introductory-level geology and physical geography courses, and first- and second-year courses designed for science majors.

- to offer laboratory courses for geology majors who plan to transfer and obtain a bachelor's degree in geology
