USU Eastern's communication department is entrenched in tradition as its graduates circle the globe in careers they started while students at the college. If past awards help define the department, the student newspaper continues to win awards from organizations including Columbia Scholastic Association, Society of Professional Journalists, Rocky Mountain Collegiate Media Association, Mesa State University, American Scholastic Association and Utah Press Association.
