The Utah State University Eastern logo is the primary academic mark for USU Eastern. The logo should be used whenever officially referencing USU Eastern. For distinction purposes between Price and Blanding, the logo includes a Blanding campus version. Blanding may use either the primary logo or the Blanding campus primary logo. Note: because Price is considered the home base of USU Eastern, it is unnecessary to use the city reference (similar to Logan being the default reference for Utah State University.)
Secondary logos are common in higher education. While a secondary logos may not be used in place of the primary logo, such as on official documents (letterhead, business cards, web sites, etc.) there are times when secondary logos are appropriate. A good rule of thumb to apply when making a decision is to compare formal versus informal uses. In formal situations, the college's primary logo should always be used. Secondary logos are acceptable in less formal situations such as on apparel and merchandise.
Athletic marks play in important role in higher education. As Utah State University Eastern will maintain its intercollegiate athletics teams, the USU Eastern Eagle will continue to be used. As a mascot, the Eagle should be used in athletic or spirit-building context only. That may include apparel and merchandise. It should not be used in conjunction with an academic department, unit, division or program.
College units, departments, offices, divisions, organizations, clubs, etc. are no longer permitted to create their own logos in place of the college logo. Existing logos must be phased out by July 2013. Entities are permitted, however, and encouraged, to reference thier names beneath the logo but must preserve an area of isolation between the logo and the name. The pairing of names with the logo may only be placed beneath the logo in Univers 55 Roman typeface. (See the Visual Identity Guide for more detailed information.)
Design Elements for Promotional Purposes
The following design elements can be used to help increase awareness of campus campaigns and for use in promotional endeavors. These elements should not be used in place of a college primary logo (see “Primary Logos”, above). Whenever a design element is used, a USU Eastern Primary Logo should also be used to ensure proper and consistent identification of the college.
