USU Eastern Highlights


23 Bachelor's degrees have been added, plus numerous graduate programs, including:

  • on-site faculty in Social Work, Psychology, History, Elementary Education, Wildlife Science, Criminal Justice, Technology Systems, and Business Education
  • distance education delivery (F2F, online, broadcast) of BS/BA programs in Accounting, Management and Information Systems, Marketing, Business Administration, plus many, many more.
  • many BS/BA degrees will be lead to one of the 19 graduate degrees now offered in Price

Academic Program Changes

  • NEW AAS degrees and certificates: Surgical Technician, Medical Lab Technician, Agricultural Studies, General Technology, Pharmacy Technician, Bookkeeping, Web Business, Digital Design, Medical Assistant, Engineering Drafting and Design Technology, Phlebotomy, Small Business Operations, and POST.
  • Discontinued programs: Early Childhood Education (0 enrollment and loss of faculty), ESOL (1 enrollment and loss of faculty), Associates of Pre-Engineering - discontinued system-wide closure
  • Retention has increased 7-percent since 2010
  • Addition of funded graduate assistants in Price; currently eight graduate assistants deployed on campus

Facilities (buildings, grounds, and infrastructure)

  • Central Instruction Building - brand new building - $20 million, 36,000 sq. ft.
  • Geary Event Center (theatre) remodel and renovation - $6 million
  • Castleview Hospital Athletic Fields (former Durrant School) - $1 million
  • Remodel projects in the Library and Learning Commons (coming Summer 2019)
  • Demolition and removal of two outdated buildings - Music and Student Activity Center (SAC); more greenspace
  • Illumination of campus with LED lighting, new poles, and improved efficiency ($500K project)
  • On-campus community garden supplying vegetable to the Carbon County Food Bank (3rd year)


  • Increased number of student athletes from 85 to 260
  • New programs in soccer (three teams), softball, rodeo, and spirit squad (cheer, dance, and drumline)
  • New student-athlete academic center, tutoring program, and academic advisor
  • Addition of athletic training and conditioning programs, enhanced weight rooms, gym, and academic lounge
  • Exclusive deals with Under Armour athletic wear (uniforms) and Gatorade sports drink


  • Housing is currently debt free (as of 2018)
  • Housing is at 100 percent capacity (400-beds in four dormitories)
  • Dining Services is in the black for the fourth straight year; catering services is up 35% in the last two years
  • Summer programs generated revenue of more than $200K in summer 2018

Development - improvements since 2010

  • Wakefield Endowment - $1 million expected over the next 10 years (first $100K already endowed)
  • Castleview Hospital Health Professions Endowment - $500K for USU Eastern @ Price students
  • Salzetti Family Foundation - $185K, Jordan Hatch Endowment - $25K, Olive Richeda Endowment - $1.1 million
  • Implemented USU Aggie Legacy Scholarship program for Price campus to attract out-of-state students
