Apply for Upward Bound

Who May Apply for Upward Bound?

Students in 9th and 10th grade who attend one of the target schools (Carbon High School, Lighthouse Learning Center, Mont Harmon Jr. High, Pinnacle Canyon Academy, Canyon View Jr. High, Emery High School, Green River High School, San Rafael Jr. High, Grand County Middle School and Grand County High School) and are seriously considering attending college may apply to the program if they and their parents or guardians meet federal income and educational guidelines. (Two-thirds of our students must meet both criteria; one-third may meet one or the other but not both.)

To be educationally eligible, the parent(s)/ guardian(s) with whom the student lives cannot have a bachelor’s degree.

While the income information changes each year, the most recent income guidelines are below:

Once we've determined that you are eligible, you will need to complete an application. Strong candidates will be interviewed by an Upward Bound representative in your school. Students are notified in May as to whether or not they have been accepted into the program.

When and How Should I Apply?

Most recruiting takes in the spring and teachers, guidance counselors, parents, and community members may refer students to Upward Bound.
